Supplemental Insurance
Federal Long Term Care
Long Term Care is care that you need if you can no longer perform everyday tasks by yourself due to a chronic illness, injury, disability or the aging process. Long term care includes a wide range of medical and support services in a variety of settings and is continuing care that you might require for the rest of your life, rather than a short term cure. As this care can span for years, it can be very expensive depending on the type of care you need and the location where that care is received. Health plans do not typically cover ongoing chronic care and disability insurance is designed only to replace a portion of the income lost if you are unable to work due to an accident or injury, rather than payment of medical fees. Long term care insurance is a way to help pay for these ongoing expenses, which can occur at any time, and may be essential in securing the care you need.

WAEPA has been the premier provider of Group Term Life Insurance for Civilian Federal Employees for over 75 years and serves more than 46,000 members and their families across all levels and agencies.
FEDAdvantage: Disability Insurance
Your leave and disability are separate and don’t work together. Qualifying for one doesn’t mean you’ll qualify for the other; therefore, there is no set timetable to gauge when benefits begin, end, or how long the benefits will pay out. FEDS has partnered with FedAdvantage to offer supplemental disability insurance designed to "fill the gaps" in your leave and disability retirement. All Federal Civilian Employees, except Postal Workers (USPS employees), can enroll in group Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) to supplement your leave and disability retirement programs and fill the gaps in your benefits. Supplemental disability insurance is not intended to duplicate or replace your current benefits, but rather to fill the gaps and make them more complete.
