Liability Insurance for Federal Employees and Contractors

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Does FEDS provide any Loss Prevention or Pro-active consultation benefits?
The FEDS policy allows for two half-hour legal consultations -at no additional cost - with an experienced federal employment attorney for pre-complaint matters and other issues related to your employment that are not covered by the liability defense benefits offered under the policy.

Here are two scenarios during which you might opt to use this unique service:

Scenario 1

An employee of the Department of Labor is told he will be put on a performance improvement plan (PIP) for unsatisfactory performance. While performance matters are not covered by the legal defense portion of the benefit plan, he would be assigned an attorney experienced in the area of federal personnel and performance law to provide him with a ½ hour free telephonic legal consultation regarding the matter.

Scenario 2

An employee at the Department of Homeland Security who was not selected for a promotion believes she is being discriminated against because of her race and wants to file an EEO complaint but does not know how to. While proactive actions such as the filing of and prosecution of an EEO complaint are not covered by the legal defense portion of the benefit plan, she would be assigned an attorney experienced in the area of EEO law to provide her with a ½ hour free telephonic legal consultation on the EEO process.

If you have specific questions regarding additional consultations or would like to schedule one, please call us at 866-955-FEDS or contact us online.
