Federal Employee Defense Services, Inc. (FEDS or FEDS Protection) is a rapidly growing insurance agency, providing insurance and risk management services to the federal government community. FEDS operates with the mission to educate government employees and contractors about their professional liability exposures and to provide insurance coverage that is specifically tailored to their needs. FEDS has offices in Maryland, Illinois and New Jersey.

 

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Director of Membership Services for FEDS will interact with Federal government employees at over 200 agencies and Federal contractors worldwide. This self-motivated individual will oversee a customer service team and manage all interaction with insureds to guarantee that service requirements are met and that procedural operations are applied. Excellent communication skills are essential to meet customer service needs and to address any issues that may arise. The Director must be able work independently as well as in a team environment to meet expectations, and it is essential that the applicant to be highly adaptable to multi-faceted roles and a fast-paced environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide customer service to members, including coordinating service coverage, answering questions, and handling complex cases.
  • Lead staff and oversee daily activities.
  • Manage and reconcile member accounts and payments, including overseeing payroll deduction accounts, and payment plans.
  • Perform general administrative duties and office clerical functions, including maintaining, scanning, billing, and managing database.
  • Preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly reports and records.
  • Create, update, and distribute information to current members as well as prospective members.
  • Handle customer relations and resolve customer complaints effectively.
  • Identify and respond to member needs and product questions.
  • Assist attorneys and claims professionals with claims processing.
  • Prepare memos and letters; and reply to company email and correspondence.
  • Ensure that operating systems are functioning properly – communicate with IT Department routinely.
  • Attend professional conferences and financial fairs; and interact with federal associations and FEDS affiliates.
  • Assist department heads in preparing various member responses and company reports including premium/cost analyses and reports.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Minimal to occasional travel up to 20%.

 

EXPERIENCE AND KEY SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experienced in presentation development and business writing.
Familiarity of marketing best practices and interest in sales growth.
Knowledge of the Government a plus.
Knowledge of digital marketing platforms a plus.

EDUCATION

Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Communications, Marketing, or similar.
