Supplemental Disability Insurance

FEDS Protection is pleased to offer a group supplemental disability insurance program for federal employees. Our decision to offer this benefit is based on the fact that federal employees do not have adequate disability insurance available to them as part of their benefits package.

If you are in an enhanced physical or stressful position such as a federal law enforcement officer, MetLife Supplemental Life Insurance for Federal Employeesfederal firefighter, or air traffic controller, you have additional circumstances that make supplemental disability insurance an important part of your insurance program.

This program, underwritten by MetLife and managed & administered by fedADVANTAGE, is available to all civilian federal employees working at least 20 hours per week.

This plan is designed to “fill the gaps” of your federal leave and disability retirement benefits by providing the following:

  1. Bridging your income from when your leave stops and until you are approved for disability retirement;
  2. Supplementing your disability retirement income and increasing your take home pay; and
  3. It also provides vocational and rehabilitation services to assist in getting back to work.
